A total of 13 projects in areas including next-generation cars, intelligent manufacturing, new energy and high-end modern services are to be developed in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ). It was announced at the 2020 Hubei Capital Conference for High-Quality Development, which opened on Sept 28.

The projects include Innovusion Lidar Headquarters and R&D Production Base, ProMOS Technologies Chip Inspection Package Project and Huali Tech's V2X Internet of Vehicles Project.

Hailing from Silicon Valley in the United States and focusing on the R&D, design and production of image-level lidar products, Innovusion is a unicorn company in the lidar field and has completed multiple rounds of investment led by well-known investment institutions.

The company signed a contract with WHDZ to establish an independent legal company in the zone as its headquarters in China, where it will conduct research and development, manufacturing and sales of lidar products.

According to WHDZ officials, the zone is focusing on next-generation automobiles and is currently promoting the transformation and upgrading of the automobile industry. The Innovusion project will promote breakthroughs in the area of image-level lidar products in the zone, and will add an important link to the industry chain of next-generation automobiles in the zone.
