The first Chinese Enterprise Digitalization Summit Forum, organized to explore the thinking and development direction of the digital economy era, opened in Wuhan, capital city of Central China's Hubei province, on Dec 20, according to local media reports.

More than a hundred entrepreneurs from companies including Midea, Tomorrow Advancing Life, Health 100, Belle International, and Weimob Group conducted in-depth dialogues on the digital transformation of enterprises.

Digitalization is profoundly changing all walks of life.

During the event, Yang Guoan, senior management consultant at Tencent, outlined the results from his in-depth research into consumer retail, smart manufacturing, healthcare, life services, online education and other fields that he has conducted in the past year. And based on these excellent digital transformation case studies, he has worked out a blueprint for the digital transformation of enterprises.

According to Yang, five factors including strategic consensus, change of leadership, value chain reengineering, digital upgrading, and organizational matching will directly affect the results of enterprise digital transformation.

Based on preliminary research, Yang believes that digitalization is both a tool and a strategy. At the same time, digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, the "Internet of Things", 5G, and big data must be perfectly matched with corporate organizational capabilities to achieve more prominent transformative effects.

Tencent has been settled in Wuhan for many years and will continue to increase investment and deployment in Wuhan in the future.

According to Tencent officials, since the beginning of this year, Tencent has invested 900 million yuan ($137 million) in the fight against the epidemic in Wuhan, established an epidemic data exchange platform, and developed products such as health codes to contribute to Wuhan's epidemic defense and economic recovery.

Tencent will continue to increase R&D and deployment in smart education, smart travel, and digital government, so as to assist Wuhan's all-round digital growth.

Over the next five years, the number of Tencent employees based in Hubei province will reach four times its current size.
