Puppet show staged in Hohhot school
A troupe from the Cultural center of Yuquan district gave a puppet show on Dec 2 at Tongshunjie Primary School in Hohhot, capital North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, according to people.com.cn.
Puppet shows are one of the traditional art forms in China. During the performance, the performers sing behind the scenes while manipulating the puppets, accompanied by music.
The puppet show is especially suitable for parents to watch with their children.
With the continuous expansion of the other forms of home entertainment, puppet shows -- a special form of performance -- have begun to be staged in theaters and schools, growing in popularity.
In 2006, the art form was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage.
