Inner Mongolia sees surging foreign trade in first four months

In the first four months of this year, the import and export value of Inner Mongolia's foreign trade reached 38.19 billion yuan ($7.73 billion), an increase of 13.1 percent over the same period last year.

Statistics from Hohhot Customs showed that exports totaled 14.46 billion yuan, an increase of 26.9 percent, and imports totaled 23.73 billion yuan, an increase of 6.1 percent.

From January to April, Inner Mongolia's export volume grew significantly, coming in at 13.8 percentage points higher than the region's average import and export growth.

Inner Mongolia's trade volume with its top 10 trading partners showed a positive growth trend – with the exception of Russia. Among them, Inner Mongolia's trade volume with Mongolia, Australia, South Korea, Vietnam, Chile, Thailand and Peru all grew at double digits.

The trade volume between Inner Mongolia and Mongolia reached 9.49 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 56.1 percent; while that between Inner Mongolia and Russia totaled 5.37 billion yuan, decreasing 4.0 percent.

Except for Hulunbuir city and Xiliin Gol League, the total import and export value of other leagues and cities in Inner Mongolia all showed a positive growth trend. 

Among them, Baotou city's import and export volume reached 7.31 billion yuan, ranking first in the region.
