Ereenhot Airport in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region received official approval for international operations after passing a national inspection on Oct 16.

A team from the General Administration of Customs, in collaboration with the National Immigration Administration and the Civil Aviation Administration of China, conducted the inspection.

Following a thorough on-site inspection, report review, and document assessment, the team approved Ereenhot as the sixth international airport in Inner Mongolia, joining Hohhot, Manzhouli, Hailar, Ordos, and Baotou.

Since 2013, Ereenhot Airport has been temporarily approved for international operations. During this period, it launched international routes to Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia and Ulan-Ude and Irkutsk in Russia, handling 2,342 international flights and 134,276 passengers.

With its official international opening, Ereenhot Airport will work with the Ereenhot highway and railway ports to create a comprehensive transportation network connecting Mongolia, Russia, and China’s interior.

This development is expected to boost the high-quality growth and international opening-up of Inner Mongolia.
