Sijie Street in Chongchuan welcomes Lantern Festival with festive celebrations
To celebrate the Lantern Festival, Sijie Street in Chongchuan district, Nantong, hosted a series of traditional activities, bringing a lively festive atmosphere to the historic neighborhood.
Participants enjoyed hands-on experiences such as making glutinous rice balls, solving lantern riddles, and exploring intangible cultural heritage. To enhance the festive spirit, 100 red lanterns adorned the street, while 240 riddles fluttered in the breeze. Volunteers were also at hand to reward those who guessed correctly with small prizes.
Sijie Street, located in the northwest corner of the ancient Nantong city, stretches over 600 meters. It is named after Tianning Temple, which once stood nearby. The area is rich in history, with several former residences of notable figures from different eras. Since January, the first batch of eight pop-up stores from a planned renovation project has opened, giving the area a fresh look. With these changes, Sijie Street has become a popular spot for both residents and tourists.
