Nantong Molang Culture Communication Co Ltd, an animation company based in Chongchuan district, Nantong, Jiangsu province, is one of the production teams behind Ne Zha 2, the highest-grossing animated film in Chinese box office history.

Molang played a key role in creating visual effects for the film's climactic "Chentang Pass Battle" scene. The studio was responsible for the animation of shrimp and crab soldiers, as well as the full-process effects of fireworks, smoke, and sparks.

According to Wang Xingming, production director at Molang, the team spent about two months on the project. "We went through more than 10 versions and faced many challenges, such as insufficient machine power and high memory demands for certain scenes. We had to find ways to overcome these issues to deliver the final effects."

Founded in July 2022 and registered in Yongxing subdistrict, Molang is a small startup with only seven team members. Despite its size, the company's experienced team first gained industry recognition by working on Ne Zha 1, which led to their involvement in the sequel.

Molang is the only Nantong-based company to participate in the production of Ne Zha 2. With multiple successful projects under their belt, Wang and his team are gaining prominence in the animation industry and growing in confidence for future endeavors.
