Xixia mushrooms draws great attention of BRI countries

Trade attaches from more than 20 countries involved with the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), including Ghana, Italy and Togo, have sought cooperation on shiitake mushrooms with Xixia county, Nanyang from Nov 3 to 4.

The 2018 Xixia Shiitake Mushrooms International Trade Matchmaking was held by China Edible Fungi Association, China Green Times, and Xixia county people’s government. The event specifically invited the trade attaches of BRI countries in the Economic & Commercial Counselors Alliance in China (ECCAC).

Kwadwo Atuahene, chairman of the ECCAC and the trade attache at the Ghana embassy, said that the event has strengthened relations between Xixia county and more than 60 ECCAC members, bringing opportunities for cooperation in the future.

Seventy-eight domestic and foreign merchants reached cooperation agreements concerning mushroom production and processing enterprises in Xixia, amounting to a total of 6.5 billion yuan ($93.8 million).

Currently, Xixia county has 280 professional mushroom cooperatives and 108 mushroom processing enterprises, including one provincial leading enterprise and 43 above-scale enterprises. It has also set up three large-scale wholesale mushroom markets with an annual trade value exceeding 3 billion yuan.
