Nanyang's first summer water sports camp kicked off on July 12 in Nanyang Sports School. Nearly 100 students participated in the training activities.
Fu Rucheng, director of the Henan Water Sports Management Center, attended the opening ceremony and inaugurated the camp.
The students were given professional physical training, including dynamometer and rowing equipment training by professional coaches. They also practiced related activities such as water life-saving, ocean boating and dragon boat racing.
The camp is a public activity sponsored by the Henan Water Sports Management Center and the Nanyang Shipping Association.
In recent years, water sports in Nanyang have shown a vigorous momentum. Water sports such as rowing, canoeing and swimming have achieved excellent results in various competitions.
Rowers in Nanyang won a number of gold medals in the 11th, 12th and 13th games of Henan province.
The organizers of the camp hope to make the sport of rowing popular among the general public and to promote Nanyang’s water sport development.
