ACWF Honors 2 Women as 'National Women Pacesetters' for Achievements in Nanyang
To celebrate International Women's Day (March 8), the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) named 993 role models as national pacesetters for making extraordinary achievements in their work on March 1. Two of the outstanding women, Peng Ye and Zhou Hongxia, are from Nanyang.
Peng Ye is the vice president of Nanyang Culture and Art School and chief secretary and group leader in Caizhuang village of Yuantan town in Tanghe county. She came to the village in 2017 to help poverty alleviation. Over the past three years, in order to satisfy the villagers' desire for flexible employment, she has built a 300-square-meter poverty relief workshop with the special funds of the chief secretary. She has also encouraged efforts to support villagers to return to their hometowns to start businesses and modernize the local agriculture.
Zhou Hongxia, the secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Tongbai Chemical Industry Cluster Area, innovated a poverty alleviation model and provided the area’s impetus for poverty elimination and environmental protection.
