During the provincial government affairs work conference held on March 5, Nanyang won the title of 2020 Advanced Unit in Energy-Saving of Public Institutions, with its annual assessment ranking first across the province.

The energy-saving of public institutions involves all the administrative departments and government organizations that use public funds and that play a role in ecological conservation.

As of the end of the "13th Five-Year Plan" Nanyang has achieved its target of reducing aggregative energy consumption per capita by 11 percent, energy consumption per unit floor area by 10 percent, and water consumption per capita by 15 percent.  

In terms of the city’s becoming a demonstration unit of energy-saving, its government offices center took the lead with 15 departments earning the title of national demonstration unit of economical public institutions and 20 others awarded the same honor at the provincial level.
