Construction of the Nanyang Medical Sacred Temple Cultural Park and Zhang Zhongjing Medical Museum (Museum) project officially kicked off in Nanyang city on March 18.

The project is located in an area enclosed by Zhongjing Road, Jianshe Road, Mingshan Road and Xinhua Road. It covers a total area of about 684 acres, with a planned above-ground construction area of 137,000 square meters and an underground construction area of 107,000 square meters. The total investment is about 4.4 billion yuan ($690.36 million).

As the birth place of medical sage Zhang Zhongjing, the city has long been famed for its traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) culture. It is a natural storehouse of medicine richly endowed by nature, with 2,356 species of TCM herbs.
