Henan province's main venue for "International Museum Day" celebrations and the Nanyang City Museum Exhibition were officially opened to the public on May 18 in the Nanyang Museum.
At the launching ceremony, Kang Guoyi, director of the Museum Division of the Henan Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau, read out the "Opinions of the Henan Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau on Approving the Nanyang Municipal Museum to Add the Canal Head Museum of the Middle Route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project."
Nanyang is the water source for the project. As the project proceeded a large number of historical relics were discovered along the route, including many of a precious cultural nature.
In order to better promote the spirit of immigrants and display the excavation results, Nanyang decided to establish the Canal Head Museum of the Middle Route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project.
