Nanyang's industries above designated size develop in first 8 months of 2021

The Nanyang Municipal Statistics Bureau announced on Sept 22 that the city's economic development has continued to show resilience in the first eight months of the year and the city's industrial enterprises above a designated size increased steadily.

From January to August, the added value of the city's industrial enterprises above a designated size increased by 13.1 percent, 4.5 percentage points higher than the provincial average, and ranked third in the province, moving forward by 14 and 4 positions respectively over the same periods in 2019 and 2020. Among the city's 37 major industries, 30 industries showed positive production growth, with a growth rate of 81.1 percent.

In terms of categories, among the three categories, the added value of the mining industry increased by 2.4 percent, the added value of the manufacturing industry increased by 14.2 percent, and the added value of the electricity, heat, gas, and water production and supply industries increased by 9.6 percent. The six high-growth manufacturing industries grew by 20.4 percent, which was 7.3 percentage points higher than regulated industries and 15.8 percentage points higher than the same period in 2019.

At the same time, the city's fixed asset investment also showed a steady growth trend. Fixed asset investment increased by 9.8 percent, which was 4.4 percentage points higher than the provincial average, ranking fifth in the province, moving forward by 4 positions compared with the first half of the year, and moving forward by 9 and 5 positions compared to the same periods in 2019 and 2020 respectively.

In addition, the consumer market in the city also showed continuous improvement. The city's total retail sales of consumer goods reached 133.99 billion yuan, an increase of 13.6 percent, which was 1.3 percentage points higher than the provincial average and ranked seventh in Henan province, which was 7 and 2 points ahead of the same periods in 2019 and 2020, respectively. Among them, the total retail sales of social consumer goods above a designated size increased by 20.7 percent.
