In order to ensure that the area's elderly residents can receive their subsidies on time and in full, Baiyu street in Xixia county started taking several measures on Sept 14 to carry out auditing and certification for senior citizen subsidies.

The community civil affairs staff are using WeChat groups and phone calls to educate the elderly and their families about their subsidy accounts.

A mobile app is being used to complete the monthly audits and certifications. This is the second year that local authorities have used this app to certify the subsidies. With the help of their families, many of the area's senior citizens have been able to get their certification without even leaving home.

For those who live on their own, four communities have set up a priority window for the declaration and certification of allowances. Staff at the window meet with the elderly to help them complete the declaration and certification procedures for the subsidies. All of the street's 547 elderly residents have completed their audit and certification procedures.
