Xixia district sees a boom in tourism market on National Day holiday

Xixia district of Yinchuan, the capital city of Northwest China's Ningxia Hui autonomous region, introduced multiple measures to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and boost the local "holiday economy".

Figures show that Xixia received 1.67 million visits from the week-long National Day holiday (October 1-7), up 27.41 percent from the same period in 2023. Meanwhile, its tourism-related revenue reached over 1 billion yuan, an increase of 27.6 percent year-on-year.

Before the holiday, Xixia had rolled out various promotional measures both online and offline to help upcoming tourists further enhance their patriotism and enjoy travel experience.

During her attendance of a variety show titled "Opening the Door for Good Luck" in the CCTV-3 channel, Li Fan, manager of the Sales & Marketing Department in Zhenbeipu West Studio, personally promoted cultural and tourism resources in Ningxia and the development of its movie sector. The studio registered 223,700 visits with business revenue of 22.92 million yuan during the National Day holiday.

Hundreds of thousands of visitors got together in Gunzhongkou scenic area to celebrate the founding anniversary of the PRC, which was covered by CCTV-1 and CCTV-13 channels as well as China Central Television's prime time news (China's most-watched news program). A short video titled "Buddy, You Are Amazing" was viewed by 93.76 million netizens with 4.3 million likes and was forwarded by such media outlets as Zhejiang Daily and Bingtuan Daily.

Together with Yinchuan Passengers Transport Section of Lanzhou Railway Bureau, Xixia Culture and Tourism Bureau organized celebration activities for the 75th founding anniversary of the PRC in Yinchuan-Hangzhou West trains and the debut high-speed train between Huinong and Yinchuan to further promote local cultural and tourism resources and drive the development of relevant industry.

The Manpu Town held thematic tours and choir performance to stimulate patriotism among tourists, whose average number hit as high as 21,000 on a daily basis.

Xixia District Library convened such thematic activities as film watching, children's painting contests and the recitation of classical revolutionary literature.

The ancient costume market in Zhenbeipu West Studio incorporated the demonstration of local cultural resources and intangible cultural heritage into its tourism development strategy. The studio area drew 461,700 visits from October 1 to 7 with a collection of cultural and artistic shows, which are related to A Chinese Odyssey, the battlefields during the Xixia Dynasty (1038-1227), and the Xixia Mausoleum Museum.

Zhenbeipu West Studio further showed its cultural charm with special night view. Special night-view shows and bonfires were held in Xixia Landscape Park and Huaiyuan Sightseeing Night Market to entertain visitors. They received 740,900 visits, with a business revenue of 64.05 million yuan.

The Manpu town and the Helanshan Mountain Barbecue jointly rolled out a series of shows and special foods to better serve tourists. A total of 118,200 people visited the two places and brought a business revenue of 15.61 million yuan.

The RV camping equipment conference was held during the fourth China (Ningxia) International Wine Culture & Tourism Expo to promote the integrated development between wine industry and other sectors. During the seven-day golden holiday, Chateau Yuanshi reported 144,400 visits and a business revenue of 1.92 million yuan, up 15.5 percent and 32.92 percent from the same period in 2023 respectively. With its thematic study tours, the Xixia Mausoleum Museum attracted 20,300 visits and registered a new height of its revenue. The Lanyi Eco-Park held pumpkin arts festival and parent-child bowling to strengthen the connection between the tourism and education sectors.

Statistics show that class-A scenic areas in the district received 834,500 visits in total, with a business revenue of 67.15 million yuan, during the National Day holiday.

The district adopted comprehensive measures to ensure the smooth operation of its tourism market during the golden holiday.
