Weifang, with a history of more than 8,000 years and being widely regarded as the world's "kite capital", promoted the city's unique culture and tourism resources in Shanghai on Feb 9.

Located near the mountains and the sea, Weifang boasts the centuries-old Qilu culture, and is a place where marine civilization and farming civilization blend together. The city has a millennia-long history of urban construction, and is endowed with unique scenery.

Di Bo, vice-mayor of Weifang, invited Shanghai residents to take leisure vacations in Weifang and welcomed Shanghai entrepreneurs to invest and start businesses in the city.

The city's iconic scenic spots were highlighted at the promotional event, including Shihu Garden, a well-maintained typical Chinese-style garden built during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), the national 5A tourist attraction Qingzhou Ancient City, and the "Eye of Bohai Sea", the world's tallest shaftless ferris wheel. Two self-driving tours were also promoted at the event.

There are frequent economic exchanges and interactions between Weifang and Shanghai, said Zhang Qi, deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism, adding that Weifang is rich in tourism resources, which is very attractive to Shanghai.
