Shandong's inaugural snack culture festival draws crowds for Lunar New Year

As part of the 2024 Shandong Rural Cultural and Tourism Festival, the first-ever Shandong Snack Culture Festival ignited celebrations for the Lunar New Year on Jan 27 In Liaocheng, Shandong province.

Featuring over 500 artisans, the festival offered a delightful array of more than 1,000 traditional Shandong snacks, including 108 unique specialties exclusive to Liaocheng.

The event buzzed with excitement as over 100 stalls serving up freshly prepared snacks, filling the air with tantalizing aromas. A grand exhibition showcased 300 premium snack products, captivating over 30,000 locals and tourists alike.

With a festive and auspicious theme, the festival boasted seven sections, hosting activities such as snack evaluations, short video contests, and a New Year goods fair.

Adding an international flair, delicacies from the 10 ASEAN countries were also on display, enriching the festival experience.

Exhibitors reported brisk sales, with some snacks selling out within two hours, resulting in earnings nearly 10 times higher than usual.

Organized by the Department of Commerce of Shandong Province, Shandong Provincial Boutique Tourism Promotion Association, Shandong Radio and Television Station, and Liaocheng municipal people's government, the festival also featured competitions recognizing outstanding local snacks and presented multiple awards during the event.

The inaugural snack culture festival not only celebrated the rich culinary heritage of the region but also served as a vibrant platform for cultural exchange and economic growth, marking a memorable start to the Lunar New Year festivities in Shandong.
