The 10th Nishan Forum on World Civilizations will be held in Qufu, Shandong from July 10 to 11.

On July 8, the Information Office of the Shandong Provincial People's Government held a press conference at the main venue of the Nishan Forum to brief domestic and foreign journalists on preparations for the event and to introduce the achievements and results of previous forums.

Themed on Traditional Culture and Modern Civilizations, the forum will feature six sub-topics, two keynote speech sessions, one top dialogue, 12 sub-topic dialogues and seven parallel forums.

Among the six sub-topics are Exchanges and Mutual Learning among Civilizations amid Global Challenges, and Civilizations and Contemporary Society in the "Axial Age".

The Nishan Forum on World Civilizations was founded in 2010. This year's event will be co-sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the International Confucian Association and the People's Government of Shandong Province.

During a Q&A session with reporters on the forum's theme, Yang Chaoming, a distinguished professor at the Advanced Institute for Confucian Studies, Shandong University, stated that "the Nishan Forum has built a bridge for dialogue between the past and the present. Chinese civilization has a strong sense of continuity, allowing us to draw from ancient wisdom to solve the many problems and challenges facing contemporary society."

Going forward, Shandong will earnestly shoulder the cultural mission of the new era and contribute to further advancing cultural prosperity, building a leading country in culture and fostering a modern Chinese civilization.
