Nishan Dialogue on Confucianism held in Qufu, Shandong

Nishan Dialogue on Confucianism, a parallel forum of the 10th Nishan Forum on World Civilizations, was held on July 11 in Qufu, the hometown of Confucius, in East China's Shandong province.

Co-hosted by the Shandong Academy of Social Sciences, Shandong University, the Nishan World Center for Confucian Studies and the Jining Municipal People's Government, the event brought together more than 50 experts and scholars from countries including China, the United States, Singapore, New Zealand, South Korea, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Focused on the theme of "Confucianism and the Modern World", the dialogue aimed to explore the transformation and development of Confucianism in modern life. Through keynote speeches, roundtable dialogues, and more, scholars discussed how Confucian wisdom can provide solutions to promoting Chinese modernization and global peace and development.

Tang Zhouyan, president of the Shandong Federation of Social Sciences, noted that Confucian culture serves as a crucial link in promoting exchange and mutual learning among modern civilizations and provides fertile ground for nurturing modern values.

The dialogue highlighted the enduring vitality of Confucianism in adapting to the changing times and shaping modern Chinese civilization. Participants underscored the significance of understanding Confucianism in promoting mutual respect, dialogue, and harmony between different civilizations for global peace and development.

The event concluded with a closing ceremony where reports on the promotion of Confucian culture overseas were presented.
