The first China-South Korea (Shandong) skilled talent exchange and cooperation conference convened on Nov 19 in Weihai, Shandong province.

Representatives of technical colleges, human resources institutions and enterprises from both sides attended the conference, jointly promoting the reform and development of technical education and cooperation among skilled talent in the two countries.

"We are in the midst of the fourth industrial revolution, with artificial intelligence and future technologies flourishing, giving rise to new professions and cultures," said the president of Bucheon University at the conference's opening ceremony.

On the same day, more than 20 cooperation agreements were signed between relevant institutions and enterprises from China and South Korea, focusing on joint student training, faculty and student exchanges, and the co-development of key disciplines.

During the conference, a skills exhibition was held featuring the latest achievements from Chinese and South Korean institutions, displaying dozens of innovations such as electronic flower pots, welded structures, and semi-automated coffee makers.

Weihai, the host city of this conference, is the closest Chinese city to South Korea.

In recent years, the city has taken strides to develop technical education, establishing a comprehensive lifelong vocational skills training system. This has resulted in numerous practical skilled talents for enterprises and society in fields such as industry, manufacturing, and elderly care and childcare.
