With Spring Festival approaching, East China's Shandong province has taken advantage of the holiday to boost the local economy by launching a consumption season across the province.

A launching ceremony was held in Jinan, the provincial capital, on Jan 18, marking the commencement of a series of activities aimed at boosting consumer spending in the province.

This year's event features five major focuses – festival consumption, cultural tourism consumption, ice and snow consumption, dining consumption, and e-commerce consumption, with 10 key promotional activities to be held.

The province has allocated a total of 9 billion yuan ($123 million) in various funds, facilitating initiatives ranging from trade-ins for consumer goods to the distribution of consumer vouchers and the introduction of a comprehensive "policy package" aimed at benefiting the public and supporting enterprises.

These measures aim to assist citizens in saving money while unlocking high-value consumer experiences, offering new products and services that are more technologically advanced and tailored to their needs.

Simultaneously across the province, 94 distinctive large-scale events such as the "Yellow River Fair", "Grand Canal Fair", and "Marine Fair" will be organized. Additionally, over 4,900 grassroots and urban public performances and more than 400 rural tourism activities, including folk performances, lantern tours, temple fairs, and more, will be conducted.

From ice and snow activities to authentic local cuisine, from cultural and historical sites to cinemas, this year's Spring Festival consumption season in Shandong has meticulously planned a series of premium cultural and tourism festivities to meet demand for diverse and personalized travel experiences.

Through effective and people-oriented policies, the provincial authorities aim to ensure that local residents can delight in practical benefits and joy amid the festive atmosphere, further enhancing the prosperity of Shandong during this auspicious time.
