Jinan Yaoqiang International Airport saw its passenger throughout spike during the eight-day Spring Festival holiday from Jan 28 to Feb 4.

The airport facilitated a total of 3,254 flight takeoffs and landings during the period, transporting 474,000 passengers, marking respective year-on-year increases of 5.1 percent and 4.2 percent.

On Feb 3, the busiest day for return trips during the Spring Festival holiday, the airport experienced a record-breaking throughput of over 68,000 passengers, setting a new high for the airport in Spring Festival daily passenger volume.

To cope with the increased travel demand, Jinan Yaoqiang International Airport enhanced its operational capacity by optimizing resources in critical time slots, key areas, and popular routes. Passenger traffic notably increased on routes to cities like Shenzhen in Guangdong province, Shenyang in Liaoning province, Guilin in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, and Yinchuan in Ningxia Hui autonomous region.

The Jinan airport also saw a total of 170 international flights during this year's Spring Festival to destinations including Sydney, Seoul, Osaka, Bangkok, Singapore, Phuket and Nha Trang. Among these, 155 were passenger flights, transporting over 19,000 passengers.
