Print PrintThe Changqing district section of the Great Wall of Qi has been selected as one of Shandong province's top five archaeological discoveries of 2024.
The Great Wall of Qi an important military defense system built by the Qi state during the Eastern Zhou Dynasty (770–256 BC). The site stretches over 640 kilometers and is a significant part of the Great Wall, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The Great Wall of Qi, as the oldest surviving wall of its kind, was not only an essential part of the Qi State's military defense system but also offers crucial insights into the political landscape of the Eastern Zhou and Warring States (475–221 BC) periods.
Moreover, the layout, site selection, and associated facilities of the Great Wall of Qi provide evidence of the advanced military planning and strategic foresight of the Qi state, reflecting their efforts to respond to external threats and secure their territory.
