The carrier Yun Sheng, loaded with 37,000 cubic meters of construction materials and vehicle equipment, departed from Yantai Port of Shandong Port Group on March 24, marking the official launch of the first general cargo service to Cuba from Shandong.
The service brings Yantai Port's total number of international general cargo services to 27.
The vessel, which operates twice per month, will be reloaded with goods bound for overseas destinations at the end of this month. The new service is expected to strengthen the general cargo logistics corridor connecting Yantai Port with Central and South America.
Yantai Port has fully leveraged the advantages of the general cargo multimodal transport development alliance. It has offered end-to-end logistics solutions featuring auto logistics, shipping and cargo agency, yard storage, lashing and lifting, transshipment, and export, bridging the gap in end-to-end services among factories, ports, and customers.
Prior to the arrival of the ship, Yantai Port coordinated with various agents to solve transport challenges. Through the design of a land-to-water and water-to-water logistics corridor for cargo transportation, successful cargo stacking was ensured. During in-port operations, Yantai Port customized a plan for the vessel to achieve fast berthing, efficient loading, and rapid departure. All these efforts have enhanced Yantai Port's status as China's best-serviced general cargo terminal.
