Print PrintHeze in East China's Shandong province is breathing new life into its cultural heritage through innovative approaches that blend tradition with modernity. By focusing on three key cultural symbols: the Yellow River, Hanfu, and peonies, the city is not only revitalizing its cultural landscape but also driving economic growth and international engagement.
This cultural renaissance begins with the Yellow River, which has shaped the city's history for millennia. Efforts to preserve and promote Yellow River culture include protecting historical sites and revitalizing traditional art forms, such as The Yellow River haozi, a folk song that captures the spirit of river management.

From this foundation, Heze's second cultural gem is the Hanfu, traditional Chinese attire that has gained popularity locally and internationally. The city's Caoxian county has become a global hub for Hanfu production, with more than 2,700 businesses and a complete supply chain generating over 12 billion yuan ($1.7 billion) in annual revenue. This industry not only boosts local economy but also builds cultural pride.
Meanwhile, renowned as the "city of peonies", Heze's peony culture has gone beyond gardening to include high-tech products and international festivals. The city's peony-themed events and products attract global attention, promoting cultural exchange and economic development.
