The 2021 Guangyuan Cultural Tourism (Fangchenggang) Promotion Conference was held in Fangchenggang city, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, on May 20, alongside a signing ceremony which saw the two areas agree to work together to boost cultural tourism.

The promotion aimed to implement the requirements and spirit of the signing ceremony. This includes the establishment of sister city relations as well as the construction of a new land-sea channel in the west, which was agreed during a meeting held by Fangchenggang and Guangyuan on December 11, 2020. 

The two sides will jointly promote the development of tourism relating to the Guangyuan Shu Path, the Three Kingdoms, the reign of Empress Wu Zetian, Fangchenggang border culture, marine culture and the Jing ethnic group, and promote the high-quality, coordinated and differentiated development of cultural tourism between the two areas. 

During the event, Guangyuan and Fangchenggang held special cultural exchanges and performances to showcase the unique charm of the culture of the two areas, and paint a glorious picture of national prosperity, national rejuvenation and people's wellbeing. 

Guangyuan demonstrated a new cultural tourism format, the construction of boutique tourist areas, rural tourism, and tourism support facilities to Fangchenggang merchants, and issued the "Boutique Routes Promotion and Preferential Policies of Guangyuan Cultural Tourism". 

"The snowflakes in winter and the coolness in summer in Guangyuan will provide different tourism experiences for Fangchenggang citizens," said Song Yuanbai, deputy director of Guangyuan Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau. "Guangyuan can also take advantage of Fangchenggang Port to help it become an international tourism destination."

"We sincerely invite friends to pay more attention to the development of Guangyuan cultural tourism, and to visit and invest in Guangyuan," Song added.

A strategic cooperation agreement on jointly promoting the coordinated development of culture and tourism in Guangyuan and Fangchenggang was also signed at the meeting.
