To ensure a timely response to the flood season, the Datang Tingzikou Water Conservancy Project in Guangyuan, Southwest China's Sichuan province, the only key project on the main stream of the Jialing River, is making every effort to optimize reservoir scheduling, equipment inspection, water monitoring and forecasting.

According to Zhang Jianming, a member of the water dispatch center of the project, high temperatures and rainy weather coexist, which requires further efforts to ensure the normal operation of mechanical equipment.

In addition, the project needs to maintain close contact with the Yangtze River water resources committee of the Sichuan Provincial Water Resources Department to ensure a timely and safe response to extreme rainfall during the flood season.

Workers conduct inspections of high-voltage equipment, such as the outlet platforms, reactors, and main transformers, more than three times a day, said Zhang Huancheng, deputy operator of the operation and maintenance department of the project.

They also use infrared imagers, temperature guns, and clamp ammeters to detect equipment. These procedures enable workers to discover and address potential safety hazards and ensure the safe and stable operation of the equipment.

With a super large storage capacity of 4.07 billion cubic meters and a flood control storage capacity of 1.06 billion cubic meters, the project is a vital power source and an important barrier to ensure the safety of the whole river and the largest clean energy base integrating water and scenery in Northeast Sichuan.

At present, the Jialing River Tingzikou Water Conservancy and Hydropower Company of China Datang Corporation has cumulatively generated over 27 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity.
