The first snowfall of 2024 arrived in Cuiyun Corridor, a renowned tourist destination in Guangyuan, Southwest China's Sichuan province, on the morning of Jan 22 and lasted until the afternoon on Jan 23.

More than 7,000 ancient cypresses, aged over a thousand years, were adorned in silver, creating an exceptionally beautiful spectacle akin to a painted scroll.

Cuiyun Corridor is a 150-kilometer-long, stone-paved, cypress-shaded post road. In ancient times, important letters of state were carried by horseback couriers along the thoroughfare.

As snow often covered the road in winter and the summer sun resulted in a scorching ride for the couriers, local officials ordered cypresses to be planted on both sides of the road, to provide shelter and shade all year round.
