Duangong Opera a hit with crowds in Wangcang

A spectacular performance of Wangcang Duangong Opera, also known as "Nuo Opera", was staged in Wangcang county, Guangyuan, Sichuan province, on Tuesday, drawing a large crowd of enthusiastic locals.

"Nuo" is the oldest traditional Han dance for entertaining and honoring the gods. The event highlighted the integration of this intangible cultural heritage into people's daily life, showcasing its role in promoting rural revitalization.

As the rhythmic beats of gongs and drums echoed through the air, actors adorned in traditional costumes and ornate headpieces took to the stage. They opened the performance with a local folk tune, narrating a tale of justice and virtue. The community gathered in high spirits, united by their shared cultural pride.

The mesmerizing performance elicited waves of applause and cheers, with the dynamic melodies resonating throughout the venue.

"It's amazing! The actors' makeup, movements, and singing were flawless. Preserving and promoting Duangong Opera is so important," said one excited audience member.

He Meixu, an inheritor of Wangcang Duangong Opera, emphasized the cultural significance of the art form: "As a national-level intangible cultural heritage, Duangong Opera serves as a bridge for cultural exchange and legacy.

"We are dedicated to preserving, promoting and sharing its rich history, culture and spirit with audiences in our own way."
