Guangyuan advances high-quality growth of aluminum-based new material industry
Guangyuan in Southwest China's Sichuan province is positioning itself as a leader in the aluminum-based new material industry, focusing on technological innovation and upgrades to enhance productivity and drive the high-quality development of the sector.
With a strategic development plan and a modern industrial system, Guangyuan aims to establish a trillion-yuan industrial cluster by 2027.
The city has developed a robust industrial framework, with the Guangyuan Economic and Technological Development Zone at its core. The current production capacity includes 61.5 million metric tons of electrolytic aluminum and 160 million tons of recycled aluminum, with an aluminum processing capacity of over 220 million tons.
As a national comprehensive transportation hub, Guangyuan leverages its logistical advantages to boost the aluminum industry. The city prioritizes the aluminum-based new materials sector, attracting projects in automotive lightweighting, rail transit, and renewable energy applications.
Key enterprises like Guangyuan Yuantai New Material Co are making strides with innovative products such as foam aluminum, renowned for its lightweight and high damping properties, used in aviation and high-speed trains.
The city has also established a trading, processing, and logistics center for aluminum in the Sichuan-Shaanxi-Gansu-Chongqing area, with the trading center already operational.
Guangyuan is committed to sustainability, with local companies using green energy to achieve emissions that far below EU standards. This commitment has made Guangyuan a leader in green aluminum production, with all electrolytic aluminum enterprises certified for green power aluminum, setting a national benchmark.
