Guangyuan opens registration for 2026 half marathon
The Guangyuan Municipal Bureau of Sports announced that registration for the 2026 Guangyuan Half Marathon kicked off at 10 am on Dec 29.
The event is also part of the "Run Across Sichuan" series, with Guangyuan serving as one of its host cities, a provincial-level running campaign covering multiple cities in Sichuan Province.
Ma Rongxing, a relevant person in charge at the bureau, stated that the race will start at 8 am on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at the South Gate of Guangyuan Aoyuan Sports Center, which will serve as both the start and finish line.
The event includes men's and women's individual half-marathons as well as a team event for the Guangyuan leg of the "Run Across Sichuan" series.
The race will adhere to the highest standards of the Chinese Athletic Association for road running events, meeting international requirements for course measurement, timing, and refereeing.
To ensure the smooth holding of the event, a "4+1+1" work plan – a standard Sichuan sports event mechanism consisting of four core plans, one risk assessment and one circuit breaker mechanism – has been formulated, along with the establishment of an organizing committee and comprehensive arrangements for on-site ambiance creation and safety assurance.
Over 2,000 volunteers will be mobilized to provide services and maintain order. During the race, Guangyuan's cultural tourism and industrial promotion activities will be held simultaneously, featuring local specialty sales, live-streaming commerce, and food tasting sessions.
A total of 10,000 participants will be admitted to the event, with quotas distributed as follows: 9,000 for the general public, 878 for sponsors, 30 pacers (experienced runners who maintain a consistent speed to help other participants achieve their race goals), 32 emergency runners and 60 supporting staff.
