A delegation led by Serurubele Elizabeth Mutinhima, project manager at the Insurance Sector Education and Training Authority under Department of Higher Education and Training of South Africa, visited Nantong Vocational University on April 28.
The delegation aims to gain firsthand insight into scholarships offered by the government of South Africa to students at NTVU.
During the meeting, both parties discussed key topics, including joint project management and improving the quality of student training. Xu Sheng, president of NTVU, emphasized the university's strong commitment to this collaborative project, highlighting the provision of highly qualified teaching staff members for South African students, excellent practical training conditions, and a variety of extracurricular activities to support their studies and lives.
Regarding the project's progress, Xu proposed several suggestions: establishing a more incentive-based reward mechanism to better support outstanding South African students, encouraging all students to strive for excellence, and setting up a regular communication and information exchange mechanism to ensure the project progresses smoothly.
The South African delegation highly appreciated NTVU's efforts and achievements in advancing the project. They expressed their intent to strengthen communication and collaboration with the university to jointly enhance the quality and efficiency of the cooperative project, thereby helping more South African youth realize their career aspirations.
Following the meeting, the delegation held a session with South African students majoring in the Internet of Things at the university to understand their academic progress and living conditions, and to listen to their experiences and insights gained during their studies here.
