In October 2012, with the approval of the State Council and on the basis of the Photoelectric and Electro-mechanical Base and the Jinqiao Base, eight sub-parks including the east, west and south areas of Tongzhou Economic Development Zone and the Beijing Yongle Economic Development Zone were incorporated into Tongzhou Park, with a planned area of 34.36 square kilometers distributed over ten regions. 

In accordance with the new situation of the construction of Beijing's deputy center and the new requirement of optimizing and adjusting the industry layout of Beijing, Tongzhou Park aims to build two industrial plates of the new city industry and the science and technology industry, leading industrial upgrading with the modern service industry and the high-end manufacturing industry. It will form a differentiated and characteristic pattern, and present a trend of innovative development in the logistics and business service.  It will also demonstrate advanced development in the equipment manufacturing, biological medicine and electronic information industries. 

At present, focusing on the construction of featured zones such as a photoelectric and electro-mechanical integration industry base and an international planting industry science and technology park, Tongzhou Park has gathered 332 high-tech enterprises including Donglizongcheng, BorgWarner, Beijing Tongmei Xtal Technology, Sihuan Pharm, Winsunny, and Northland. 

Preliminary statistics show that in 2018, its total enterprise income was 83 billion yuan and its total profit was 4.61 billion yuan. Next, Tongzhou Park will focus on industries of smart cities and network information security, and actively cultivate scientific and technological services, pharmaceutical health (biological medicine, health services), and agricultural science and technology (aerospace breeding).
