China is a global epicenter of dinosaur diversity, with over 350 species discovered within its borders — more than a third of the 1,000-plus species identified worldwide. The exhibition underscores China's pivotal role in paleontological research.

Among the highlights are 80 nationally protected Class I paleontological fossils and 13 specimens that have been featured in prestigious international academic journals, including Science and Nature. The collaboration involves 12 leading Chinese museums and research institutions, ensuring a curated selection of the most significant finds.

Notable exhibits include Anchiornis huxleyi from the Natural History Museum of China, one of the earliest known feathered dinosaur fossils, which provides crucial insights into the evolution of birds.

Another standout is Ambopteryx longibrachium, a membrane-winged flying dinosaur discovered by the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. This unique creature boasts wings resembling those of pterosaurs and bats, challenging traditional notions of dinosaur flight.

Additionally, Sinosaurus triassicus, sourced from Lufeng's natural resources bureau in Yunnan province, was reclassified as a distinct species in 2023 after the discovery of a complete skull specimen, further enriching our understanding of dinosaur taxonomy.

The exhibition is housed in the B1 temporary exhibition hall of the Shanghai Natural History Museum. Tickets can be easily purchased online through official channels, with advance booking required. Visitors must present a valid ID upon entry.
