'Startup in Shanghai' kicks off selection in Jiading district

The Jiading Division of the 2025 "Startup in Shanghai" International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition opened on June 12.

This event aims to enhance the business environment for technology enterprises and drive high-quality development in the region.

This year's competition focuses on local leading and emerging industries, striving to create a globally influential platform for innovation and entrepreneurship. The event aims to gather both international and domestic innovation resources, promote the conversion of scientific and technological achievements into real-world applications, and support the growth of technology-based SMEs.

Participants are categorized into team, startup, and growth enterprise groups. The Jiading competition will feature offline roadshows, where each participant will deliver a presentation followed by a Q&A session. Judges will score the presentations to select projects for the municipal semi-finals.

Among the participants is Shanghai Ecar Smart Vehicle Technology Co Ltd, which specializes in unmanned urban service equipment. "We hope to connect with more resources and accelerate product upgrades through this platform," said Chen Yaohua, the company's public relations director.

Jiading district is committed to providing full-cycle services throughout the competition, offering policy training, pre-competition courses, and ongoing support through roadshows and technical exchanges. The aim is to foster a robust innovation ecosystem, enhancing the district's competitiveness in future industries.

Wen Li, deputy director of Jiading's science and technology commission, emphasized the competition's role in aggregating innovation resources. By attracting industry innovation projects, the event helps us discover more innovative technologies, accelerates the formation of a new ecosystem of industry, innovation, and talent chains, and ensures Jiading district maintains a competitive edge in future industries.
