Shanghai boosts rail power: two new stations, including one in Baoshan
A critical milestone was achieved for the Shanghai-Nanjing-Hefei High-Speed Railway (HSR) on June 15 as a massive 1,000-metric-ton steel girder was slid into place in Hefei, paving the way for accelerated construction.

This 554-kilometer line, part of China's national high-speed rail network, will connect Shanghai to Nanjing and Hefei at a speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It will feature 10 new stations, with 16 in total. Key additions for Shanghai are the Chongming Station and the highly anticipated Baoshan Station.
Baoshan Station will be Shanghai's fourth-largest railway station, with eight platforms and 18 tracks. Designed to handle 54 million passengers annually (approximately 148,000 passengers daily), the station will serve as a terminus of the Shanghai-Nanjing-Hefei HSR and the northern terminus of the upcoming Metro Line 19.
Baoshan Station is scheduled to be completed in 2027, along with Hopson One. As a comprehensive transportation hub, it will optimize the transport layout of northern Shanghai. Once operational, this line will forge a rapid corridor linking the Shanghai, Nanjing, and Hefei areas.
Future trips from Chongming to Baoshan could take as little as 17 minutes. The era of enhanced regional connectivity is speeding towards us.
