Changning-based Danaher launches first globally marketed product developed in China
Global science and technology leader Danaher Corporation, a resident firm in the Linkong Business Park in Changning district, has announced the release of its first China-developed product for global markets, marking a milestone in its "China Innovation" strategy.
The QPix Flex, a compact microbial cloning system, was designed by Danaher's Shanghai R&D team and manufactured locally. Featuring full automation for tasks like pipetting, microbial selection, and imaging, the device reduces human error and boosts efficiency in fields ranging from synthetic biology to food safety. Its production base in Shanghai's Molecular Devices facility supports 70 percent of global output, underscoring China's role in Danaher's supply chain.
Other innovations include the CytoFLEX mosaic, a dual-mode flow cytometer enabling seamless switching between conventional and spectral analysis, and locally produced filtration systems for semiconductors and biopharmaceuticals. Danaher's Leica Microsystems is also localizing production of premium microscopes in Shanghai and expanding its R&D center with a $28 million investment.
"China's unique ecosystem of advanced manufacturing and talent drives our global competitiveness," said Andy Hu, president of Danaher's Life Sciences Platform in China. The company plans to deepen collaboration with domestic partners, leveraging China's strengths to create technologies that address global challenges.
