Fengxian's sweet summer delight hits peak season
Summer has arrived in full swing, and with it, the irresistible sweetness of Fengxian district's famed honey peaches. At Shanghai Muen Agricultural Cooperative in Fengxian, the peach orchard is bursting with ripe, juicy fruit, drawing locals eager to savor nature's candy before the season ends.
Clad in protective paper wraps, the peaches glow like blushing cheeks when unwrapped. "This year's crop boasts larger, plumper fruits with exceptionally juicy flesh," said Wang Jihua, cooperative director. Though slightly less sweet due to heavy rains, the peaches compensate with explosive water content and a refreshing, clean taste.

With harvests peaking, daily yields of premium-grade peaches reach 1,000 kilograms — but only for a fleeting week. "Once they're gone, you'll have to wait till next summer," Wang added. Chilled peaches offer a sublime treat: their tender skin slips off easily, revealing succulent flesh that bursts with sweet nectar.
