Landmark exhibition from French Musee d'Orsay hosted in Pudong
The art scene in Shanghai's Pudong New Area reached new heights with the grand opening of Paths to Modernity: Masterpieces from the Musee d'Orsay, Paris exhibition at the Museum of Art Pudong on June 19.
This monumental exhibition, the largest-ever showcase of the French Musee d'Orsay's masterpieces in China, features over 100 iconic works spanning from the 1840s to the early 20th century.

Visitors can traverse the evolution of Western modern art without leaving Shanghai, exploring pivotal movements like Realism, Impressionism, and Post-Impressionism through masterpieces by Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Paul Cezanne, Edgar Degas and so on.

The exhibition uniquely juxtaposes paintings and sculptures, offering fresh perspectives on artistic connections — a curatorial approach praised by Musee d'Orsay President Sylvain Amic for its "innovative reimagining of traditional displays".
Collaboration between the Museum of Art Pudong and the Musee d'Orsay began in 2018, reflecting Pudong's commitment to cultural innovation. The venue's design, including replicas of the Musee d'Orsay's iconic clock, enhances the immersive experience. Extended summer hours (until 10 pm on weekends) cater to global visitors, with the exhibition running through Oct 12.
