The inaugural IEEE Global Blockchain Conference (GBC) kicked off on June 20 in Shanghai's Jing'an district with the tagline "Building a Trustworthy Digital Future".

A major highlight was the inauguration of the IEEE Blockchain China Regional Office in Jing'an, which is poised to strengthen blockchain development, foster international collaboration, and position Jing'an as a global hub for blockchain innovation and governance.

Simultaneously, the conference launched the Transformation Service Center of the IEEE Global Blockchain Conference. This center will establish an open platform to accelerate technology demonstration, piloting, and the commercialization of blockchain solutions, driving deeper integration with the real economy.

Co-hosted by the IEEE and Tongji University, this flagship event marks IEEE's first global blockchain academic conference in China. It convened nearly 200 leading experts, including scholars from globally renowned universities such as Carnegie Mellon University and Cornell University, tech leaders from Google, Huawei, and Ant Group, as well as representatives from Hong Kong and the Belt and Road regions.

The newly established China office and service center are pivotal to Jing'an's strategy. They are expected to synergize academia, research institutes, leading enterprises, and international organizations, creating a collaborative "government-industry-academia-research-application" ecosystem. These two institutions will attract global blockchain talent to Jing'an while accelerating the adoption of new technologies in government, industry, and public services, empowering Shanghai's vision to become a leading international blockchain hub.
