The Shanghai International Auto City Software Park, part of the Shanghai Smart Vehicle Software Park, is nearing completion and aims to become a global hub for smart vehicle software innovation.
Situated in the core R&D area of Shanghai International Auto City in Jiading district, the park covers 170,000 square meters and is designed to enhance Shanghai's automotive innovation ecosystem by integrating software development with hardware advancements.
According to Li Jia, director of the Investment Promotion Department at the Shanghai Smart Vehicle Software Park, the new park represents a new industrial platform for the evolving smart vehicle industry.
As the automotive industry transforms, software and algorithms are becoming central to competition and value growth for car companies. The park will focus on building an automotive software industry ecosystem that combines software and hardware, integrating production and research to foster key technologies in intelligent connected vehicles.
The park will support core functions such as smart vehicle software R&D, prototyping, and design, offering diverse R&D office spaces and specialized trial production and testing facilities.
Among its first tenants is BeTen Software, a German company known for its embedded software tools. Wu Hui, deputy general manager of the company, praised the efficient ecosystem that facilitates collaboration and innovation.
A notable feature of the park is the Unicom Intelligent Computing Center, which will house 400 high-power cabinets to provide robust computational support to resident companies.
Recruitment efforts focus on smart vehicle software, vehicle networking, and intelligent transportation information services, aiming to advance technologies like autonomous driving algorithms and smart cockpit systems. The park seeks to build a globally competitive software industry cluster.
Additionally, the park plans to extend automotive technologies into emerging sectors such as AI and robotics, fostering cross-industry innovation. By creating an open and collaborative ecosystem, the park aims to position itself as a leader in global smart vehicle software development.
The Shanghai Smart Vehicle Software Park is focusing on four core industrial directions: intelligent driving and smart cockpit application software, operating systems and computing platforms, digital system toolchains for vehicle machines, and vehicle networking and intelligent transportation. Its goal is to establish an internationally influential and domestically respected center for smart vehicle software innovation.
