As summer's heat intensifies, Shanghai residents seeking cool escapes need look no further than Fengxian district's Sunny Beach, also known as Bihai Jinsha, a beloved coastal destination that officially opened its 2025 swimming season on June 21.

Spanning 2.81 square kilometers, the national 4A-level scenic area features an 18,000-square-meter swimming zone capable of accommodating 10,000 visitors simultaneously. Beyond swimming, the resort offers a vibrant mix of attractions: children's water parks, thrilling aquatic sports, and serene strolls along the man-made shoreline.
"This is the perfect spot for kids to dig in the sand while parents unwind," shared one visitor, capturing the beach's family-friendly appeal.
To ensure safety and comfort during peak summer crowds, operators have enhanced staffing and infrastructure. "We've implemented crowd control measures at entrances and increased patrols," explained Liu Chong, Party secretary of Shanghai Bihai Jinsha Investment Development Co. Emergency supplies like medical kits and heat-relief remedies are also readily available.
The swimming season runs through Sept 7, positioning Bihai Jinsha as Shanghai's ultimate staycation hub. As temperatures rise, this coastal gem promises locals an accessible, world-class beach experience without leaving the city — a testament to Shanghai's ability to blend urban sophistication with natural leisure.
