The Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME) has upgraded its Global Business Center (GBC) in Shanghai to the Northeast Asia ASEAN Headquarters. This announcement was made at the recent Sino-South Korean SME Cooperation Forum.
Founded in 1979, KOSME is South Korea's largest SME support organization, aiding over 320 South Korean firms in entering the Chinese market. The Shanghai GBC, a key player in this effort, supports SMEs with localization, financial investment, and logistics. Its upgrade underscores Shanghai's vital role in global trade and offers a new platform for Sino-South Korean collaboration.
The headquarters is located in the ChuangE Valley industrial park in Minhang district, Shanghai.
The park acts as a comprehensive service platform, integrating logistics, R&D, and business incubation. Over its 350,000 square meters, it serves as a gateway to China for South Korean companies. It has been enhancing its services through targeted matchmaking and resource integration, strengthening its role as a regional hub for the Northeast Asian and ASEAN markets.
KOSME Chairman Kang Seok-jin highlighted the aligned goals of South Korea and China in enhancing SME competitiveness. The forum aims to explore long-term partnerships, with KOSME supporting joint growth and sustainable innovation. Kim Geun-mo, from the South Korean Consulate General, noted the Yangtze River Delta's importance to Sino-South Korean trade and investment.
The forum introduced local business policies, providing guidance for South Korean companies in Shanghai. Looking ahead, Chuangyi Valley and KOSME will continue to support SME cooperation, fostering mutual benefits and development.
