Two major agricultural projects launch in Chongming's Zhongxing town
Zhongxing town in Chongming has inaugurated two significant agricultural projects along its Chenjiao Highway high-tech agriculture belt, further reinforcing the commitment to supporting Chongming's evolution into a world-class ecological island.
The Gengwang phalaenopsis production base is set to cover an area of 32,000 square meters in Jiaozhong village. The investment of over 27 million yuan ($3.79 million) features six intelligent greenhouses equipped with advanced climate control systems. The base is projected to achieve an annual output of 1.7 million seedlings and 400,000 flowering plants. By supplying the premium holiday flower market and local growers, the project is expected to generate approximately 20 local jobs.

The Zhongxing bisporus production base, a 66-million-yuan investment. This project is built upon an innovative ecological cycle model. It will utilize agricultural waste like straw and manure as a planting substrate, converting spent residue into organic fertilizer. The factory aims for an annual production of 6,000 metric tons of mushrooms, which is expected to generate over 70 million yuan in output, create 120 jobs, and significantly boost the local collective economy.
