Immersive Dunhuang light culture pop-up debuts in Jing'an
An immersive Dunhuang light culture pop-up, a highlight of the upcoming third "Shining Shanghai Light Up Jing'an" light festival, launched at Jing'an Park on Sept 22, bringing millennia-old grotto art to the city's heart.

This project, a collaboration between Shanghai Media Group and the Dunhuang Academy, transforms the pop-up space into a cultural experience blending viewing, interaction, and retail.

Upon entering, visitors are greeted by a striking, full-scale model of the famed Cave 220 from the Mogao Grottoes. The adorable mascot, "Shi Dun Dun", adds a playful touch. The space offers a wide array of classic Mogao Grottoes cultural products, alongside exclusive souvenirs like coffee mugs, candles, and tote bags with grotto elements.

A unique feature is the thematic beverage offering, with creatively named specialty coffees and drinks, each with distinct flavors and limited-edition latte art.

From Sept 29 to Oct 8, the site will feature a thematic light show, adorning the walls with vibrant Dunhuang hues, along with immersive music and dance performances, creating a gateway to the digital Dunhuang.
