Suzhou Creek welcomes new landmark Baihe Bridge
The Baihe Bridge, the first suspension pedestrian bridge over Suzhou Creek and a new architectural landmark, opened to the public on Sept 26. Located in the Changshou Bay area, this stylish new route promises to improve urban mobility and scenic views.

Baihe Bridge stretches 245.75 meters, featuring a main arch of 83.95 meters. It connects Putuo's landmark Tian'an 1000 Trees and M50 Creative Park on the west bank with Jing'an's Hengfeng Road and Shanghai Railway Station on the east, cutting the walking time across the river between these districts to only five minutes.

Inspired by lily petals, the bridge features a graceful, arc-shaped steel structure that complements the industrial-chic style of the nearby M50 Creative Park. Its unique layout, shaped like the Chinese character "人" (human), along with riverside landscaping that forms the character "合" (union and harmony), reflects a design philosophy centered on integration and connection.

Beyond bridging two districts, this ridge seamlessly incorporates into Suzhou Creek's slow-traffic network, connecting directly to riverside walking paths and cycling tracks. It stands as another stunning addition to Shanghai's collection of pedestrian bridges — elevated platforms offering breathtaking waterfront views.
