Yangpu celebrates light festival with spectacular visual feast

Yangpu district celebrated the second Shanghai International Light Festival with a stunning array of vibrant visuals and innovative displays.

Running from Sept 29 to Oct 7, the festival transformed key areas such as Fuxing Island, Wujiaochang commercial area, and Yangpu Riverside into a dazzling showcase of digital art and cultural innovation.

This year's festival aimed to blend the district's technological prowess with artistic expression. The event featured a variety of installations and activities designed to engage both locals and tourists, while promoting the integration of culture, commerce, and technology.

It opened with a grand 3D mapping show titled at Fuxing Island. This display transformed a historic crane into a dynamic art piece, symbolizing Yangpu's evolution from an industrial hub to a center of technological innovation.

Art installations provided a kaleidoscope of visual experiences, while themed light signs along the riverside spelled out "YOUNG", each letter reflecting a facet of Yangpu's spirit. "Y" stood for Yesterday, representing its history; "O" for Open, highlighting inclusivity; "U" for Unbounded, reflecting innovation; "N" for Nice, representing a happy life; and "G" for Gain, symbolizing the achievement of dreams and Yangpu's development.

Interactive areas also included a children's playground and a light sports field, enhancing the festival's appeal to families.

In collaboration with major events like the Shanghai Golden Autumn Shopping Festival, the festival boosted local tourism and commerce by creating immersive consumption scenes. Partnerships with anime companies brought a unique fusion of light art and pop culture, attracting younger audiences.

The festival introduced Xiao Lingguang, an AI character designed to guide visitors through the attractions. This innovation highlighted Shanghai's commitment to blending tradition with modernity.

Organizers emphasized sustainability by reusing materials from the previous festival, aligning with the city's green initiatives.

A specially designed map ensured visitors could easily navigate the event's many attractions, enhancing their overall experience.
