To boost its innovation capabilities, Maqiao town in Minhang district, in partnership with the Shanghai Institute of Technology (SIT), has transformed an old factory site into the SIT Technology Park (Minhang), aiming to create a modern hub for technology and research.
The park aims to be more than just a manufacturing site. It is set to become a center for "industry-academia-research integration", combining technological innovation with urban renewal. The park supports local industry and innovation chains, contributing to the "Shanghai Maqiao Artificial Intelligence Innovation Pilot Zone".
The park covers 70,000 square meters across three locations, offering versatile spaces for production, research, and office work. It focuses on key areas like artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, and new energy, aligning with Shanghai's strategic goals for emerging industries.
By collaborating with top talent and key laboratories, the park aims to create a dynamic ecosystem that connects government, academia, and businesses. Over 70 tech companies, including international names like France's Adecco and the UK's Lesjofors, have already set up operations here.
With 30,000 square meters still available, the park is inviting more companies in new materials, smart manufacturing, and artificial intelligence to set up operations there. As it grows, the park is set to become a vital part of Shanghai's innovation landscape, influencing the broader Yangtze River Delta region.
