Shanghai's Jiading district is quickly becoming a key player in Shanghai's high-end medical device industry, leveraging its strong academic and innovation resources.
Jiading is home to over 150 medical device production and research companies and more than 1,600 operational businesses. This strong industrial base supports Jiading's vision to become a global hub for precision medicine innovation and a national leader in high-performance medical equipment.
The district's medical device industry reached a value of 20.1 billion yuan ($2.82 billion) in 2024, growing by 7.9 percent year-on-year.

The district is not only focusing on industry giants like United Imaging but also supporting innovative leaders like MitrAssist. This approach ensures a dynamic and interconnected industrial landscape.
Jiading has invested in 16 medical device platforms, including the Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine Cardiovascular Research Institute. These platforms enhance service levels and optimize financial, talent, and platform support systems.
To drive innovation, Jiading has introduced policies offering up to 50 million yuan in support to individual enterprises. By the end of 2024, the district had issued over 700 medical device licenses, with several products undergoing national special review processes.
